Stangs Now, Stangs Forever

rhs boys soccer- alumni game 2019

Last night we continued a long-standing tradition: the Almuni Game!!! With several current Stangs competing against a large, talented group of former Stangs, the night was a fun time for all!

The Current Stangs finished the game with a 3-2 win, but the alumni won the hearts of everyone watching. It was an absolute pleasure to have such a spirited, friendly, and [at times] intense game. The field was shared by so many wonderful human beings that make up a truly special Redmond Soccer family.

Thank you to all current Stangs who came out and showed what we’re all about here at Redmond. Thank you to all former Stangs who laced up their boots one more time and reminded our current players of the privilige it is to be a member of this team Finally, a very special thank you to Dara Michalski and Meredith Cain for their tireless work in planning this amazing event (and feeding everyone after the game was finished :)).

We will most definitely continue this tradition next year– sometime in June 2020, so look for more information to come. Have a wonderful Summer, Stangs!!!

Important Announcement!

Please read this important email from Meredith Cain, our booster club president:

Hello RHS Boys Soccer Families,

We are writing to give you an update on our current status for the Booster Program.

First, we want to thank everyone who has donated your $100 family donation to the Booster Club! Our awesome car decals have arrived and you should have received yours by now.

There is STILL time to help us each our goal –

About half of our families have donated so far, we have reached $3600 of our $6000 goal. There is still time to donate to help us build RHS Soccer and reach our fundraising goal! These family donations are the easiest and fastest way for our families to help reach our goals and build our program. This also allows our players to remain focused on soccer and community outreach, rather than selling products or other fundraising programs throughout the season. Please help us reach our goal, just use this link: https://rhsboyssoccer.org/teams/

Corporate matching update –

For those of you able to corporate match through the Benevity program, please request through your company to match your donation to the Redmond High School Girls Soccer program. This is how we had to do it last year and we had hoped the issue was cleared up but we are still working to fix it. So until we do, we will work with the girls program to find your matching donations.

Where your funds are going –

Thanks to your donations, we have been able to purchase new warm-ups and backpacks for the Varsity, sweatshirts for all three teams, and provide the Hudl videotaping service, which is awesome! Our next big goal is to purchase a shelter for our bench, yet another way to help build Redmond Soccer! We are moving along and approving mock-ups now and will keep you posted on the status. Our goal is to have it to RHS by the beginning of the State tournament.

Boys youth summer camp, help spread the word –

Don’t forget our upcoming summer event – the Boys Youth Summer Camp! We have purchased lawn signs advertising the camp and we’ve already had several registrations, please help spread the word by either sharing the link below or the attached flyer!  https://rhsboyssoccer.org/summer-soccer-camp/

Please share your feedback anytime –

A quick shout-out to all of our players who attended our community service clean-up at Wilder Elementary, your hard work is so much appreciated! As always, your questions and comments are more than welcome. We are looking for new ideas to help Boost our Boys Soccer program and we want to hear from our families and members. Thanks again so much for your support – GO STANGS!  Donate toady – https://rhsboyssoccer.org/teams/

Picture Day THIS Thursday, March 28th!!!

Our apologies for the late notice, but are going to have our program/team pictures with Matt Campbell Photography THIS Thursday (3/28) at 3:00pm on the RHS Field.

The boys should be at the field by 2:50pm wearing their full white uniforms (including socks). We will begin with a full program photo, then Varsity team pictures, senior pictures, then JV, and finish with C-team. Every boy will participate in the full program picture and their specific team picture, and they will also have the [optional] opportunity to pose for individual/group shots if you complete the online form BEFORE noon on Thursday (more information found below). Typically, the whole process takes about an hour and a half.

Information about the online form:

Any parents that want their son to take individual pictures on Thursday in addition to the required team pictures must complete the online form at the following link: http://www.mattcampbellphotography.com/hs-order before noon on Thursday. Please also be sure to tell your son to ask Matt to take an individual picture during photos. Please note: the order form is generic (it has example photos representing the products available to purchase, but not specific to soccer).  If anyone has trouble they can contact the photographer, Matt Campbell, directly at matt@mcphoto1.com or 206-819-2781.

Thanks, everyone! Again, we apologize for the late notice.

Full Program 2019, Tryouts

Presenting Your 2019 RHS Boys Soccer Teams!

Wow! That was an impressive, competitive tryout! The coaching staff was blown away by the skill, work rate, and character displayed from each of you over the last three days. Honestly, we wish we could take you all. Thank you for the effort you gave in making this one of the best tryouts we’ve ever been a part of. You should each be proud.

Important Notes:

  • If your number is listed on the Varsity roster, you are expected to be at Tangen’s classroom (E-202) at 2:45pm tomorrow for a pre-practice meeting. Also plan on going late—we won’t be done with practice until about 5:30.
  • If your number is listed on the Junior Varsity roster, please report to the RHS field with gear on no later than 2:45pm tomorrow. Practice will run from 3:00-5:00pm
  • If your number is listed on the C-Team roster, please report to the RHS field with gear on no later than 4:45pm. Practice will run from 5:00-6:30pm.
  • If you make any team, please plan on attending (with your parent) the mandatory Parent Meeting tomorrow night at 7:30pm in the RHS Library.
  • If you make any team, please also plan on having practice (morning) and team-bonding (3-9pm) this Saturday!
  • If your number is NOT listed on any of the three rosters, you have unfortunately not made a team this year. As stated above, this was an extremely competitive tryout and tough decisions had to be made. We welcome you to participate in the RHS Track team, a non-cut sport. We’d also encourage you to train in the off-season and come back for tryouts next year! If you have additional questions about team selections, Coach Tangen will be available Thursday and Friday before school (7:00-7:25am) and after school (2:20-2:40pm) for short conversations. You may also schedule a meeting with him at ttangen@lwsd.org.

And without further delay, here are the final rosters for the 2019 Redmond High School Boys Soccer Program:

Once again, thank you to all those who attended tryouts this week! Looking forward to a fantastic season!

Team Shop for Spirit Gear Now Open!

Hey everyone! We’re introducing a new, exciting opportunity for swag this season! Through a partnership with BSN Sports, we’ve set up an online Team Shop that has various gear (shirts, hoodies, sweats, etc) for RHS Boys Soccer 2019. Anybody is welcome to order— athletes, siblings, fans, parents.

The Team Shop will be open TWICE:
1. 2/15-2/20. This is for pre-season orders. Even though this happens before tryouts and team selections, we’re hoping this will give us a head start for getting our gear earlier in the season. Please note: buying gear does NOT guarantee a spot on the roster. There will be no refunds, so please be aware! This is an “order at your own risk” kind of thing.

2. 2/28-3/4. If you would rather wait to order gear, this is your chance! This will be after tryouts and team selections. Please note: orders take between 3-4 weeks, so any gear ordered during this time may not arrive until almost halfway through the season.

The link is 2019 Redmond Boys Team Shop

***Please note: buying gear is NOT mandatory. The Boosters have also already generously purchased a Nike Hoodie for every boy in the program, in addition to uniforms every boy’s will use for the season. So the Team Shop is just a great opportunity for those who want more than that!

Spread the word to all players, parents, and fans of Redmond Soccer! Get your spirit gear now!
