What a start for the 2019 Stang’s JV team!
Against a scenic backdrop of the Cascades on a crisp, sunny Saturday afternoon, the JV team dominated the Glacier Peak Grizzlies in their first (pre-season) game away. With accurate and intelligent distribution, pin-point passes and creative play our boys continue our tradition of being one of the top teams in the region. Our solid and confident defense, creative midfield and speedy front line kept the game firmly in our control.
The Stangs went straight to business after the starting whistle, controlling the midfield and troubling the Grizzlies’ defense with strong darting runs from the flanks and some fancy footwork in the box. A Grizzly foul in the 30th minute in the box resulted in a penalty which Eshar converted for our first goal.
Our boys continued the momentum in the second half dominating in midfield and giving the Grizzlies’ defense headaches. At the 73rd minute, a pass from Luke found Amir in the box on a diagonal run. A quick turn towards goal resulted in trip by a Grizzly defender and the referee pointed to the spot. Amir blasted the spot kick and put a bulge in the top of the onion bag for their second goal. The Stangs did not let off the throttle and a minute later, Ryan found Will on the left flank who floated a perfect cross for Jacob to head in the third goal.
The scoreline should have been higher had it not been for the strong performance of the Grizzlies’ goalkeeper and a few unlucky calls. What a tremendous performance by our boys considering that it is the first game most of them are playing together.
Well Done Stangs!!!!
Goals: Eshar (30th, PK), Amir (73rd, PK), Jacob (74th, assist by Will)
