On Wednesday night, Redmond took care of Juanita with an impressive 4-1 victory!
In a battle of the only undefeated JV squads in the league, this match was destined to be a barn burner. Despite the rain and colder temperatures, the action was hot and the tempers were flaring. Right off the bat physical play was the name of the game with statement tackles and hip checks on display up and down the field. In a great tribute to the team’s focus and preparation, Redmond scored first with a Rabadan tight angle strike which caromed off the post and in. After weathering a number of dangerous Juanita corner kicks, Redmond started to assert their strength by winning a number of corners themselves. Towards the end of the first half an aerial cross from Price found a perfect Loo header for RHS goal number two. A couple of minutes later, Yeo was able to stay on his feet and demonstrated some precision scampering after being mugged in the box for goal number three. The second half saw a visibly desperate Juanita turn up the physical play. Special kudos to Redmond midfielders and defenders for matching the physicality. Doyle, Bilger and Michalski left special marks on several players with their tough and skillful tackles. A strike by Tiglon with twenty minutes left rebounded off the cross bar back to Yeo and back into the net for Redmond goal number four. In garbage time, Juanita grabbed a goal after a scrum in the box, robbing RHS of the clean sheet, but not of the final impressive result.
