In a hard fought battle against Juanita this last Wednesday evening, Redmond pulls out a 1-0 victory. In the first half the Stangs had their fair share of chances, but couldn’t convert. Then, late in the second half on a spectacular cross from Soham Deo, Oleg Pavlenko drives the ball into the back corner of the net. Juanita pushes for a late goal to draw even, but the Redmond team maintains possession and are able to keep a clean sheet.
After giving up an early goal, the Stangs settled down for a good spell, pulling ahead by halftime on 2 Stein goals (Wharton assist). The second half was back and forth, with Interlake tying the game and Redmond getting the game winner with only a few minutes to go (Stein free-kick). Final score to a scrappy game, 3-2.
On Tuesday night, JV pulled off a win against the Interlake Saints.
In an exciting and somewhat chaotic match, Redmond prevailed 4-1 against Interlake. Interlake was aggressive out of the gate, putting Redmond immediately on their heels. There was physical and scrappy play from both teams, with multiple players becoming closely acquainted with the turf. After settling a bit, Redmond was able to break the ice with Price springing to his feet after a fall and scampering around the keeper to drive it home. The slick conditions wreaked havoc with players’ footing, and contributed to an Interlake strike slipping through Condon’s hands to tie it up a few minutes later. A lovely cross from Lee was tapped by Michalski to Rabadan for the goal to close out the first half. The second half was filled with tension and drama as numerous Redmond chances failed to see the back of the net. Some nice defensive poise and leadership was shown by co-captain Merrick early in the second half who helped shut down a dangerous Interlake run. In the waning minutes of the match, Redmond broke the dam wide open and two spirited and determined attacks led to goals in quick succession by Hernandez and Tiglon which finalized the result.
Goals: 5’ (Price), 37’ (Rabadan, assist Michalski), 78’ (Hernandez, assist Price), 79’ (Tiglon, assist Hernandez)
Redmond returned some players from injury and put together a strong performance against North Creek for a 4-0 victory. The goal scoring started early with a cross from Alex Mathis to Will Fitzgerald to put the Stangs up 1-0. Then, just before half, Cameron Pisan delivers a beautiful corner kick to the head of Soham Deo to put the team up 2-0. In the second half, Thomas Mielke see’s the keeper off his line and sends a ball into the back of the net from 40 yards out. The final score, also from Mielke, was a tap in from the 6 yard box after a scrum in front of the goal. Keeper Luke Johnson makes some great saves and the Stangs defense gets another clean sheet. On to Juanita for a 4:30 game on Wednesday.

Varsity earns a 5-0 win against Sammamish on Friday!
Varsity played a must-win game versus Sammamish last night and moved in a positive direction, both with the result and the style of soccer we are emphasizing in the program. The biggest step forward was the numerous quality chances the team created. Scoring and assists came from all over the field and in a variety of ways. The defense also stood firm and kept Sammamish out of the goal. Overall a really solid performance from everyone.
Redmond took care of Sammamish 7-0, in a match where early it seemed as if every Redmond attack ended with the ball in the back of the net. Five goals were scored in the first twenty minutes of play, with a nice variety of header finishes, clinical crosses, and circus shots. The second half saw a more determined Sammamish turn up the intensity level early, but nevertheless gave up a couple of goals in the last ten minutes of play. A wonderful overlapping run involving Lee, Loo, Rabadan, and a cross from Lee to Folting for a goal in the seventieth minute was a highlight to remember. Nice work by Condon to break up some dicey late Sammamish attacks in the second half and secure another clean sheet!
Goals: 2’ (Hernandez, assist Rabadan), 4’ (Price), 7’ (Michalski, assist Rabadan), 12’ (Price, assist Hernandez), 17’ (Michalski, assist Rabadan), 70’ (Folting, assist Lee), 75’ (Loo, assist Rabadan)
On Wednesday, Redmond C-Team drew 1-1 vs. Inglemoor.
Redmond starts out the game a bit slow and see’s a familiar possession style from Inglemoor. An early Redmond penalty at the 20 yard line allows Inglemoor to go up 1-0 off a well-placed free kick. Early in the second half, off a beautiful cross from Will Fitzgerald, Max Klyuchko evened the score for the Stangs. The boys never gave up and in the second half, our defense and goal keeper Luke Johnson shut down the Inglemoor attack and our offense had a flurry of chances that we unfortunately weren’t able to convert. The game ends in a 1-1 tie with the Mustangs holding their heads high after a hard fought battle.
Keep up the persistence and heart, young Stangs! We’re proud of you!
Last night the JV Stangs defeated the Lake Washington Kangs 4-1.
Redmond started with a good showing of offensive pressure, resulting in an early goal by Rabadan off a tasty cross from Hernandez. After getting the ball deep on the wing, Lake Washington capitalized on an unlucky bounce off of Condon’s outstretched hands after a dangerous cross and tied it up in the thirteenth minute. Two more goals for Redmond came in quick succession around the twenty minute mark with clinical crosses and finishes by Rabadan, Michalski, and Price. A nice Hernandez goal off a creative Price run and cross started off the second half. Good defensive runs and physical play by Doyle spiced up the proceedings, and a lovely run by Yeo later in the second half kept Lake Washington on their toes.
Goals: 4’ (Rabadan, assist Hernandez), 20’ (Price, assist Rabadan), 22’ (Price, assist Michalski), 43’ (Hernandez, assist Price)
In a hard fought game on Monday night against the Lake Washington Kangs, the Stangs found themselves in a hole early 1-0. However, after a penalty on LW, #8 Eshar Kalsi fired a rocket into the back of the net to even up the game right before half. During the second half, the team was down 2-1, when Kalsi steps up again for another free kick that he drilled from distance into the net. As time runs out, the Mustangs stayed even with LW to earn a 2-2 tie. Next up, Inglemoor at PopKenne on Wednesday night.
